Ja så?

Interesting idea, Lunch Date. Food and flirting. Hmmmmm. I think I'll wait awhile.

You are probably right in waiting with this one.

Swedish guys are pretty shy. We need a couple of drinks those first dates.

The only guy you could expect to sign up with this scheme would be a recovered alcoholic. And you don't want an alcoholic, you want a swede that can muster the heavy drinking that is so essential to the Scandinavian lifestyle without being a fulltimer.

So you better date the guy in a bar, or at a restaurant. That way there is always the slight chance that the guy is not an alcoholic.

Sorry for the constant intrusion on your blogspace, by the way. I am not a spambot, at least according to the Turing test i took. I guess I just live through others. How sad.

Well, I just got an idea... It would be nice if "online" chat was available on the blogs. Configurable of course (meaning you can choose to display if you are online or not).

Anyhow, that would make it easier for people to get in contact with each other (writing comments is a slow process of gaining trust, I guess).

gudmundson-

why are you guys so shy? and i have to admit...i find the fact that it takes alcohol to enable someone to talk to be a bit of a turnoff...

i went on one date where he hardly said a word to me until he got a few beers in him, and then it was "blah, blah, blah." funny enough, i liked him better when he kept his mouth shut.

and by the way, not an intrusion at all. at least i have one faithful reader!:)

m l i- chat i guess could be a fun feature, but i'm not sure how that would work when i'm trying to maintain a covert identity.

I don't buy into this stereotyping "guys are shy / inarticulate"... But, then I don't know where you pick up your dates :>

And if I may spin on the acohole thingie...if you are not interesting without acolhole you sure ain't gonna be it after you downed your pints. Drunkness only enhance your personality (for better and worse).

(now, back to my books)

hee hee...okay, i do think there is some kind of TENDENCY for swedish guys to be more shy than their american counterparts when it comes to taking the initiative in the first place (and I will also add that Swedish girls probably have more of a TENDENCY to make the first move than American girls)...but as I wrote here, I am perfectly aware that I am playing into cultural stereotypes. And its (almost) entirely in jest. :)

oh, books, schmooks. come on, you know this is educational.

the only thing alcohol does, other than enhancing your personality, is possibly make your date look better after two or three drinks, and it sure as hell is going to make them look even worse in the morning. :)

Ok, guess I'm back from the books... *lol*

Anyhow, since I'm full of advice / thinking tonight I might as well offer another one (forgot the source).

"Before you get too drunk, pick one guy (or female) that you wouldn't kiss if your life depended on it - and if you later on change your mind on this issue (too much oil in your blood) - run (or play dead when morning arrives).

(ok, that came of as quite melodramatic, but you get the point)

Take care and g'nite!

(btw, on a smaller note, skåningar are known to be much more relaxed compared with the tight-asses you get in the capital... I guess the pressure of fitting the norm can be heavy load to carry :)

Shy men don' get to kiss good-looking women.

Lunchdate is excellent. If you don't find anything to talk about in an hour, you both have to leave anyway. Perfect.

Pgw, how many blogs do you read (starting to recognize a few names here, lol). Feels cozy!

Anyhow, I agree that the preference between shy -- and anything else -- is really the latter. As for me, I don't mind shy girls. It's just a matter of time before I get under their skin and annoy the hell out of them. For their own good, of course!
